March Madness

I drive two hours to go to wine club.

Why?

Because its worth it! Every time

We had such a blast at this last wine club, and like always, it involves meeting new people and catching up with close friends. The theme for Friday night was all about Syrah’s. There were six different bottles of Syrah all from different wineries perfectly bundled up in brown paper to keep their identity’s secret.  Everyone started on different numbers, slowly, or quickly, working their way tasting all six bottles. Music was on our minds as we swished, swirled, and smelled because as we tickled our tastebuds we matched the different wines to different songs we thought fit the wine well. It was definitely fun thinking of different music for different tastes. Some of the wines were strong, some more mild, and some exploded with personality inside our mouths.

We soon migrated to the dinning room table, bringing our creative energies, ready to get our paintbrushes wet and wild with watercolor. Fischer had set up a spot for each of us with paint and brushes, and soon the colors started diving onto the paper. All the wine bottles were front and center and we each picked which wine label we’d like to paint. I chose a 2006 Syrah with a beautiful swirly blue sky overlooking a barn and silo. It was fun to paint! and chat and listen to all of Fischers tips because little did I know, she was a watercolor instructor.

Here’s the real wine label picture for your to compare

We all told stories, found out new facts about each other, sipped our wine, and dabbled in our paints.

It was an evening full of laughter, good food, good friends, and good wine. Totally worth each mile I drove to make it there.

Here’s the wine list

#1 Black Oak – Zinfandel (Fischer snuck a Zinfandel into our Syrah party to throw us off)

#2 Bergevin – Syrah

#3 Snoqualmie – Syrah

#4 Snoqualmie – Syrah

#5 Chateau Ste Michelle – Syrah

#6 Forgeron – Syrah

We of course had delicious chocolate, as well as covered strawberries, tasty cheese, and toothpicked shrimp kabobs to refresh our evening.

A few pictures and videos were taken that I will try to gather up from people and post later on.

Idea

My idea for our club website later on is to make club member profiles so we can get to know each other better. They would be simple with a picture, favorite wine, favorite local restaurant, why you love wine, why you love wine club, and your favorite local winery. We can add whatever else we think would be appropriate for a profile also.

Artsy Wine Labels

Author: Carley  //  Category: Arts & Crafts, Wine Culture

I was trying to find ‘famous’ or ‘popular’ wine labels and here are a few that I found. I thought they were pretty neat. I want to try to gather more and maybe make some kind of wine label gallery. I think that would be fun.
